Nelligala Mountain, located in the village of Kobbekaduwa in Kandy, was once a deserted area known for various immoral activities about ten years ago. However, under the guidance of Venerable Dhammarathana Nayaka Thero from Wathurakumbure, this place has transformed into a world-renowned international Buddhist center, earning respect from devotees around the globe.

The Nelligala International Buddhist Center, which includes various temples, now provides significant spiritual, social, cultural, and economic services to the local community as well as to people throughout Sri Lanka. In recent years, Nelligala has also become an increasingly popular destination for foreign tourists.

As an international Buddhist center, it is fulfilling its responsibility to preserve Theravada Buddhism by maintaining close relations with other Theravada Buddhist countries. The Nelligala International Buddhist Center is creating an environment that allows thousands of foreign visitors to learn about Buddhism and enhance their spiritual qualities.
