A New Chapter in Sri Lanka-Thailand Historic Buddhist Relations! 🇱🇰 🤝 🇹🇭

The Buddhist heritage shared between our two nations is once again inscribed in gold as a Sacred Relic of the Supreme Buddha and a sapling of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi were ceremoniously enshrined at the Wat Phra Mahathat Royal Temple in Southern Thailand—a UNESCO World Heritage site. 🙏✨

The Sacred Relics, which were previously enshrined at the Sri Shakhyasingha Sugandha Kuti of the Nelligala International Buddhist Center, were brought to the Thai Royal Temple under the leadership of the Chief Incumbent, Venerable Wathurakumbure Dharmakeerthi Sri Mangala Dhammarathanabhidhana Nayaka Thero.
At the special invitation of the Nelligala Thero, this historic occasion was further graced by the Most Venerable Pallegama Sri Hemarathanabhidhana Nayaka Thero, the Chief Prelate of the Atamasthana. The Most Venerable Atamasthanadhipati Thero personally brought a sapling from the Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi and offered it to the aforementioned Royal Temple in Thailand. ☸️🌿

State Honors and Diplomatic Warmth

This historic milestone was received with the highest state honors by the Government of Thailand. Thai Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, along with Cabinet Ministers and high-ranking state officials, warmly welcomed the Maha Sangha and the invited delegation from Sri Lanka at both the Prime Minister’s Office and his official residence. During the visit, cordial discussions were held regarding the strengthening of Buddhist ties between the two nations.

We also remember with deep gratitude the exceptional coordination and dedication of Dr. Danai Chanchaochai of the Dhamdee Foundation, whose efforts were instrumental in making this noble event a success. 🤝🌷
